Melbourne Writers Festival Friday plus Wacko Jacko

Wow, it's a bad day for pop culture today.

Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both died, as I'm sure you've heard. And you may not have heard, but Jeff Goldblum is not dead!

I can't say I watched Charlie's Angels or anything with her in it for that matter, but it's still sad.

Wacko Jacko is another thing altogether...

Although I do believe he did molest the children (I don't want any hate comments okay! This is my own opinion!) and that disease that 'made' him turn white is the biggest load of... Well you get the point.

Apart from those two things, you can't deny he is truly the King Of Pop. So many brilliant songs.

And it's for that reason that I chose to put a photo of him as black on this blog.

I have many fond memories listening to my best of Jacko CDs, and in fact I listened to them this morning to, a sort of tribute. Ahh, so many good songs. Faves would be The Way You Make Me Feel, Billie Jean, Black and White, dang, pretty much all of them.

Anyway, enough of that. This is a Literary blog, not a Pop Culture blog.

Come on! ENTER THE COMP!! It closes at MIDNIGHT (Melbourne time, so adjust accordingly) TONIGHT so ENTER! It's so EASY to enter! The answer to the question can be found on the publisher's website! Come on!

So today is Melbourne Writers Festival Friday!

Currently I'm in a public library, since WE ARE OVER OUR DOWNLOAD LIMIT AT HOME!!! I'm working 'from home' aka a library today.

So I've been here since midday and now it's quarter to one. And all I've done is Google Jacko, Farrah and read other blogs.

And the library closes at five. So I have to start!

Let's have another Live Blog:

12:45pm: Stares off into distance. I came to this library because it's where I grew up. Well, not this library but the area. I LOVE it here. It's real Aussie bush, as I like to call it, not the fake Aussie bush of where the parentals moved when I was eleven.

12:51pm: Sings to ELO (In my mind, of course. It's not like I'm in the street!)

12:55pm: Starting to make the new Excel spreadsheet. Sooooo muchhhhh workkkkkk

12:59pm: Eats one of the sandwiches I made myself

1.06pm: Gets very frustrated as Internet Banking will not load

1:16pm: Eats wafers. Decides they taste like *insert word here*

1:23pm: Reads status update on Facebook from friend who's currently doing a Europe trip. JEALOUS!!!

1:26pm: Best friend calls, wanting tomorrow's weather. She's random like that. Her assigned ringtone (Placebo's Meds) makes me want to listen to Placebo *Puts on new album* Wonders why her ringtone is that. There is no reason at all.

1:27pm: Puts on 'For Whats It Worth', for no other reason than that's what the section was called when I was published in mX

1:30pm: CURSING EXCEL

1:31pm: Liking the new album

1:37pm: In my research, I find a PDF of a presentation that one of the teacher's at my course did at another TAFE. Odd...

1:38pm: Attempting to watch Placebo's 'Infra Red' video clip on YouTube. Taking soooooo long to load

1:41pm: Still hasn't loaded. Not worth it *closes tab*

1:41pm: Idiot is watching a movie with the sound in the library. Arghhh

1:54pm: I'm safe, up high...

2:04pm: Stupid child crying :(

2:11pm: Rocking it out to P!nk... I'm not here for your entertainment...

2:19pm: Have given up on MWF work and back to finish the author biographies. Figured I can knock those on the head.

2:20pm: Waiting for three pages to load. Soooo slow, but still faster than home.

2:26pm: I drink more than you... my car is faster than your car too... This was my "I'm so cool" song from Alice Springs. After I got my license, I would drive around Alice, in my ex's car, with this on full blast, singing loudly. Oh yeah. Listening to it takes me back there. Gosh I'm so cool. Tonight, I'll do what I want, cuz I can...

I remember when I got my license (passing by a whisker, as I just parked inside the fading white lines - I would have understood if she failed me - and I also failed the reverse parallel park, never done one before!) I dropped my ex at home - parting words were, "please don't kill yourself" - and sped straight for the freeway where I did some horribly fast speed, around 200 k/ph or so.

Then I pulled over, and called my dad on speaker phone and told him that I got it.

Ahhh, good times, good times.

2:45pm: Read the set-list for Pink's tour. YAY!

2:52pm: Word document of author biographies FROZE. Lost HEAPS of work. Don't come near me; I feel like killing something or someone

3:04pm: Search Hannah Montana: The Movie times. Am taking the girl I tutor! :D

3:07pm: Now, I've got a confession...

According to Wikipedia, "Many critics were initially confused by the chorus line "I wanna have groupies" - mistaking this for "I wanna have boobies" Comedian Ellen DeGeneres also pointed this out when they performed the song on her talk show on September 23, 2008."

I didn't know it was groupies! I thought it was boobies! And I always thought it was an odd thing to say...

3:09pm: Back to biographies. Some people have very little about themselves on the Internet. Not me! I'm fairly confident if someone wanted to stalk me, they could. But please don't.

3:10pm: Probably a good thing the library closes at five. I could be here all night...

3:17pm: iPod about to die...Hold on! Hold on! All my music is on my external hard drive, I don't think anything is on my laptop... *checks*

3:22pm: Actually, quite a lot of music is on my laptop. YAY! *Unplugs iPod to conserve power for trip home, listens on laptop*

3:32pm: Best friend calls again *on phone*

4:07pm: 33 minutes and 44 seconds later...Going to her house for DVDs on Saturday night. Hoorah!

4:15pm: Text from my girl's mother. Hannah Montana on Tuesday is on!

4:26pm: Started on Screenwriting, making progress.

4:43pm: Time is almost up at the library. But REJOICE! I have almost finished my Screenwriting! I just have to update my screenplay and then it's done! I've even put all the other documents - all 6 of them! - in the email and written the email. All that's left is to update my screenplay, attach it in the email, and hit send! Can I do it in fifteen minute?!

4:48pm: The library had their "closing in ten minute" speech. I need to borrow a book, the screenplay is going to take too long.

I'll do it later....I have until Monday anyway.

Well, I hope you enjoy today's not-so-MWF Friday!

Don't forget to enter the comp!

Have a great night!
